Gate 32: The Gate of Continuity aka Preservation.
Gate 32 carries the energetic vibration of sustaining life, which includes projects, literal genetic continuation through having offspring and engaging in activities that help life live on, including making money.
This gate is located in the Spleen centre in the bodygraph. It can be connected to Gate 54: The Gate of Ambition to form the Channel of Transformation 32-54.
This gate provides the primal energy that we humans carry to continue life in this universe. To have offspring, to ensure survival of our species.
To ensure we stay connected with one another instead of choosing isolation, because that increases the chances for life.
This gate is associated with the fear of failure and the fear of death. In our modern times, this looks like a fear of not having enough money. In historical times, it was about a fear of being ostracized from our tribal and familial groups because that ensured death.
It teaches us that when we remain interconnected and open to life, including other humans, then we can succeed in our survival as a species and as individuals.
Low expression of gate 32:
Your fear of failure may take you to extremes of conservatism or of individuality.
In the Gene Keys, the repressive shadow is: fundamentalist: cutting themselves off from others, becoming extremely conservative and tight, isolating themselves or only being involved in small, constrictive communities or cults. Over-conservatism will have you becoming too tight with your finances, emotions, life circumstances and physicality.
The reactive shadow is: disjointed: experiencing anger that no one supports you which leads you to self destructing your life. Over-individuality will have you feeling like you are always alone and have to do everything on your own. The burden of this is too large. Remember that the more you focus on your individuality, as a single entity, the more failure seems plausible. “Every decision in life either connects us to something greater than ourselves or cuts us off from our true and vital inheritance, leaving us feeling isolated and alone.” - Richard Rudd.
“Therefore, until we begin to think in far wider terms, beyond our own little lives and out into the whole, we will remain isolated in our own little boxes with our own little bank accounts.” - Richard Rudd
You may fear that someone will steal your dream before you complete it. There is a competitive spirit that arises out of fear as well.
Remember, that you are connected to the whole, you are part of me and I to you; interconnectedness to the whole is what ensures everything works in our universe. Low expression is also not trusting your Strategy and Authority for the right timing, and with the wrong timing you might increase your chances of failing.
High expression of gate 32:
You know that you can surpass the fear of failure when you are interconnected with other people and with life and nature itself, when you realise you are part of the grand universe.
“The 32nd Gift is not about self-preservation, but it is about preservation of Life.” - Richard Rudd
You transcend the fear of failure by no longer reacting to it, and trust in relying on your relationships and networks to nourish ad support you.
This gate carries the skill of financial management.
You know what is worth transforming and sustaining and what is not.
You are in your high expression when you take care of an idea and prepare what’s necessary while waiting for the right time for them to transform and expand.
In the Gene Keys system, the Gift for this gate is: Preservation. The Siddhi is: Veneration. The humility and respect of all of the ancestors before you and all of the people coming after you, for the respect of the interconnectedness of all of life.
Systems change lens:
When I was reading the Gene Keys book on this gate, the repressive shadow reminded me of the misogynistic incel groups. The themes of this gate around procreation, genetic continuity and being interconnected with all of life, show up in all of its shadows in those groups’ reasons for connecting with each other.
Blaming women for their lack of success in romance and sexual encounters, and leading to extreme threats and violence.
Some gates in the Human Design and Gene Keys system can be seen in plain view in their most extreme forms such as this one.
When some people are swept up in our society's obsession with money, and linking a man's role as a protector and provider with their ability to bring in money, we see the submission to the fear of failure to survive.
What this gate teaches us is that the fear may never leave, it is genetically encoded in us, and may take many generations for it to feel less powerful. However, we have the ability to not react to these fears, and instead focus on the evolution of life itself, through our relationships.
Reflection prompts:
Do I have gate 32 defined in my chart?
What do I have a hard time trusting people about?
Do I feel like I have to do things on my own? What things?
Do I have a hard time letting people help me?
How are my finances right now?
Who is in my tribe? Who am I interconnected with to feel nourishment and support?
What types of situations make me feel competitive all of a sudden?
